🇵🇭 Understanding the Blacklist

The BI blacklist is a confidential internal record used to bar entry or re-entry into the Philippines. Individuals may be blacklisted for reasons such as:

  • Overstaying a visa
  • Violating immigration laws
  • Being deported or ordered to leave
  • Criminal involvement or undesirable behavior

Being blacklisted typically means you’re denied entry at the border.

How to Check Your Status

There’s no online portal to check blacklist status directly, but here are your options:

  1. Contact the Bureau of Immigration directly
You can email or call the BI to inquire about your status. They may ask for:

    • Full name
    • Date of birth
    • Passport number
    • Reason for inquiry
      Email: immigration.helpline.ph@gmail.com
      Phone: +63 2 8465 2400
  2. Hire a licensed immigration lawyer or liaison in the Philippines
They can file a formal request or verify your status with BI. This is especially helpful if you suspect you’ve been blacklisted due to past issues.

  3. Visit a Philippine consulate or embassy
If you’re abroad, consular staff may assist or guide you on how to check with BI.

  4. Attempt entry (not recommended)
Some people only discover they’re blacklisted when denied entry at the airport. This can be costly and stressful—better to verify beforehand.

If You Are Blacklisted

You may be able to file a request for lifting of blacklist order. This involves:

  • A written appeal
  • Supporting documents (e.g., proof of good conduct, explanation of circumstances)
  • Payment of fees
