We have compiled here substantial evidence of 30 videos documenting the opening of over 40 balikbayan boxes.
It’s likely that additional videos exist which we may have missed, so the actual total could be even higher.
Important Note:
This count does not include the balikbayan boxes sent directly to Maricel Smith, which she has personally filmed and uploaded to her YouTube channel, Maricel’s Homestead Kitchen.
Timeframe:
From January 17, 2019 to June 2, 2021, a rough calculation indicates that he received an average of at least 17 boxes per year—far exceeding the three (3) tax-exempt boxes permitted annually if sent by a family member.
To the best of our knowledge, none of these boxes were sent by family.
Many contained high-value items, with total contents clearly surpassing the ₱150,000 allowable limit under current customs regulations.
We do not believe the Balikbayan Privilege was ever intended to be exploited in this manner.
This appears to be yet another example of a foreigner acting as though Philippine laws do not apply to him—brazenly filming and publishing content that openly flaunts violations, seemingly with no regard for accountability.
This is Just another example of this foreigner having complete disregard for the laws of the Philippines.
